1.       Properly formulate a thesis or articulate a concise argument of what your research topic is about.  The reader should be easily able to understand what you are writing about and what your main point is.

2.      Provide evidence to support the central features of your thesis.  Examples of proper evidence can be in the form of other historical events, statements from prominent individuals of the era or widely accepted statistics.  There are other examples as well that could be used as evidence that you might find useful.

3.      Research sources must be diversified and credible.  Wikipedia as a source will NOT be accepted.  Recommended sources include the library’s databases, university publications and government sources such as the National Archives or Library of Congress.  There needs to be at least four sources (at least one Primary Source Document and three secondary) cited along with proper MLA citations and a “works cited” page.

4.      Proper grammar and sentence construction as well as punctuation and capitalization will be adhered to.
